North Stand Pan Semis 2025
Nah boy...it have overdo and pan semis overdo and I over-done-did-it and then some. Again, this is what happens when I go out without adult supervision.
We got there around 2pm ish because we weren't looking to be part of the debacle that happened last year where angry ticket holding patrons stormed the North Stand because Fire Sevices closed it off for saftey reasons.
So I haven't been to pan in a few years and it's even longer since I've been to the North Stand. The last time I went to the North Stand the level of apartheid wasn't as bad as it is now. For ticket entrepreneurs to be advantaging pan lovers by charging $1500 - $2000 outside because companies buy out the whole stand is a travesty. This sectioning off nonsense is exactly what killed the Greens. I swear there's someone in Pan Trinbago whose sole job is to find ways to kill pan. Anyway...rant over
But....If yuh going pan with a company it's best yuh go with either BP or CAL. BP section looked like about 2 "bowsand" people. They provided drinks and had a separate food section outside the stand and a doubles man later in the night (I go tell allyuh bout he later). When I reach the CAL section I ask them if it was a Piarco terminal. If you see people, it was like they just announced they boarding by rows and to remain seated. They had rhythm section and a full bar.
My company provided a space and a jersey. Everyone walked with their own cooler and I had a cup and a small flask. I thought I was going to have to be going by people begging for ice and chaser. It was the exact opposite. I had to refuse drinks from friend and strangers alike. Everyone had gin they wanted me to "try".
The ladies come out fuh dem yesterday. I was making laps of the North Stand with that classic Erphaan Alves song playing in my head because it was bumper like rain. There was one young lady wearing a see-through short top with pasties. I mean part of me was like "nice...thank you very much for the show" and part was like "miss lady we still too far out from Carnival for you to be showing us both "tuts".
I don't know who I could speak to but Pan needs to be on one flat level. I mean what's with all the levels?? When I'm walking up the stairs I feel like I'm doing a workout and when I'm walking down I feel like I'm one drunken misstep away from tumbling down on to the stage.
To make matters worse, I have a padna, let's call him "Benny", who made it his mission yesterday to give me tequila shots whenever he saw me. I said "Benny anything that happens now is your fault" to which he replied, "no buddy youz a big man"...I could find no flaw in his reasoning.
Someone stopped me to talk about my reviews and a man verbally accosted me about being at pan when I've clearly stated in the past I find tassa/rhythm section is ole noise. I told him I stood by that statement and not only that, I find pan is just pee-ling pah-lang and pure rabs.
After making a hasty exit from that section I noticed Kees was in another section just standing looking like a statue. Only to realize there was a line of females and a few males waiting to take pics with the man. He is probably in physical pain right now from fake smiling like he eat cake for so long.
The highlight of my day was while roaming through the crowd I saw The Water Lord...Neil Iwer George...coming up the stairs. I said to myself "hmm look Iwer bai" and what happened next blew...my...mind. The 250ml water bottle king grabbed my arm and said "hey!! how yuh going". I ain't know if he was drunk and mistook me for someone else but I nearly dead. I told anyone willing to listen what happened. I tell myself I could retire from blogging now. Well not yet, maybe after I get a hug up and kiss from Nadia.
Around 10 pm I was like "waaay like pan go never done!!" I ventured into the BP section to get a second round of doubles and the doubles man go watch me with a straight face and tell me no...you not with BP. Irrationally, I was like well fine...keep yuh damn doubles, like I was doing him something.
Hear nah...North Stand pan semis is firmly back on the roster now. I'm not scoring it because to compare it to fetes would be unfair but if I was to rate it I would give it a 6 out of 5.
