Bishop's Food Inclusive Cooler 2025

This weekend was Bishop's Food Inclusive Cooler fete at the school compound. The fete started at 5pm but we arrived around 8pm and apparently we were late. From the carpark in NAPA I could hear Nailah buzzing on stage. I wasn't sure because I know Port of Spain mosquitoes are rambunctious. By the time we got into the fete we only got about 5 mins of her so I would say my timing was on point.

However, the more mature patrons looked like they were there straight from their Saturday afternoon tea. There was one crew that had a very well stocked liquor table surrounded by coolers that looked like they circled the wagons in a western. Not to be outdone by these vibesy septuagenarians, I cracked open my brand new PriceSmart cooler and got to work. The misses mixed my first drink "strong like bull". I told her I was not responsible for anything that happens after that, to which she replied "you go ahead, ah will beat yuh tonight ".

Olatunji was up to perform next wearing a hat that resembled some kind of dead animal. If it's one thing Ola aka the soca Michael Jackson always brings though is energy with his dancing. The DJs had an ok performance. Major Penny and Travis World were decent enough although we still got way too much old soca for my liking. The crowd was too thick for me reach back stage to hooligan down the scene.

Hear nah, this "Blessing" song from Blaka Dan is a banger. That's the tune about him not seeing his way until his ex leave him. Clearly a lot of people felt the same way...including yours truly. The song that got the most forward though was Bunji's "Carry It". I was impressed with the fact that when listing the grassroots areas that used to “carry fete” he mentioned Diego Martin but I was a little disappointed he left out Westmoorings.

The food court had an assortment of options for meat eaters, no so much for us pescatarian and plant eaters. There was corn soup, curry plate, pelau, provision and saltfish, tacos, phoulourie, desserts, geera pork and doubles. There was a bake and shark station to the left of the stage which was the only thing I had but as South people does say, "IT LASH!"

I was happy to meet a few followers last night. Some did a drive by, pointed and said "Tana!" while a couple persons introduced themselves to me and actually had a conversation but I'm not sure what about. I guess I should explain that my hearing ability declines proportionally with the amount of drinks I have. So they probably asked if I was having and good time to which I probably replied "quarter to 11".

I did bounce up the lovely and supremely talented, Vaughnette Bigford who looked at me for the first 5 seconds like I was some kind of stalker sex-pervert. Which was odd because I don't do that kind of thing anymore. Miss lady gave me a big hug when she finally recognized me.

Patrice come out in what appeared to be, from my vantage point, a white lace cyat-suit. A man commented that all she was missing was a pole and overpriced, watered down drinks. Her performance was impeccable as usual. I was just surprised that Bishop’s still had performances at that hour.

The fete was scheduled to finish at 12:00am but people were still jamming at 12:30am. Before leaving I walked around to make sure I found and thanked the person that facilitated my first ever Bishop's fete. I'll definitely be back.

Overall Bishop’s earned a very respectable "4.0 - Great" score on the TL fete ranking system. If you want a detailed breakdown go read the post "TANA's Fete Rankings 2024"
